I’ve really enjoyed the new album, but the lyrics are disconcerting to me. Some of the sentiments fly in the face of everything I believe. “Pariah” and “I Just Don’t Know” in particular talk about giving up all belief and faith. It sounds like some real searching and frustration, which is something I can relate to and respect however. The element of searching really convinced me on this album. And it goes without saying that the sound and music is some of the most unique and beautiful I’ve heard. I’m still a huge fan in a “shrewd as serpents and innocent as doves” sense. Discerning would be a good way to put it. With that said, “Information” was the most poignant song for me.
